Onboarding and Verification are important steps and only takes a few minutes. To ensure a smooth experience, make sure NFC is turned on, and you have all the required documents ready. Just follow this guide!
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Preparation
Check your smartphone:
NFC capability: Ensure that your smartphone supports and has NFC (Near Field Communication) enabled. On iPhones, NFC is usually automatically activated. On Android devices, you may need to enable it in the settings.
Have your identification document ready:
Required documents: You need a valid national passport or identity card from one of our supported countries.
Not accepted: Driver’s licenses and residence permits cannot currently be used.
Only IDs with a machine-readable zone (MRZ) are supported.
2. Register
Open the Relai App on your smartphone.
Tap 'Sign up'.
Enter your email address and confirm it using the code sent to you.
Make sure to check your spam folders to avoid missing our mail!
Set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) by following the app instructions.
3. Identity Verification
After onboarding, you'll be prompted to verify your identity.
Select 'Verify Now' from the profile area or under 'Profile' -> 'Identity Verification'.
4. Tax Information
Confirm your country of taxation.
5. Verify your ID document
ID Card: Scan the backside first, then the front side (starting with the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) side).
Passport: Only scan the main page (front).
Does your ID have this symbol? Then it’s NFC-enabled.
With NFC chip:
Hold your ID document against the back of your smartphone (usually near the top, close to the rear camera) to read the NFC chip.
Without NFC chip or with an outdated NFC chip:
If your ID does not have an NFC chip, a pop-up will appear after your second try, and you’ll need to click 'Skip'.
If you receive a message stating that the NFC chip in your ID is too old to be read by the Relai app, please click on 'Try Anyway'.
6. Selfie Check
Prepare yourself:
No hair or accessories should cover your face.
Good lighting: Find a well-lit place without direct sunlight or strong shadows.
If you wear glasses, make sure there are no reflections covering your eyes.
Take the selfie:
Keep your face within the displayed frame/oval.
No other persons should be visible in the background.
7. Provide Further Information
Answer a few short questions about yourself and the origin of your funds.
8. Confirm Your Address
To confirm your address and continue your verification, you need to provide a Proof of Address (POA) document.
You can upload your POA document directly in the Relai App under Profile → Verification. The document must meet the following criteria:
Recent Document: It must be no older than three months.
Personal Information: Your name and current residential address must be clearly visible.
Full Document: All four corners must be visible in the photo or file.
Accepted Languages: The document must be issued in German, Italian, French, or English.
Upload Requirements:
Accepted formats: Only the original PDF file or unedited photos of the physical document are allowed.
Screenshots and scanned documents are NOT accepted.
Digitally edited images or obscured information are NOT accepted. If needed, print the document, cover sensitive data with paper, take a clear photo, and upload it.
Once submitted, your address will be confirmed instantly, and you can proceed.
9. Confirm your phone number
We will send you a code via SMS. Enter it in the app.
10. Done!🎉
You are now verified and can use all the features of the Relai App.
Your Wallet was created. Please save your 12-word recovery phrase carefully offline on acid-proof paper or a metal plate!
Note: In some cases, the processing of your verification may take up to 24 hours if a manual review is necessary.
Are you an existing user without the Verification yet?
If you've previously bought bitcoin with us but have not yet completed the mandatory verification process by October 2024, you'll need to complete it now. In this case, please follow the upcoming steps.
1. Open the App
Open the Relai App on your smartphone.
2. Register
Tap 'Sign up'.
Enter your email address and confirm it using the code sent to you.
Make sure to check your spam folders to avoid missing our mail!
If available, use your previously registered email address and confirm it using the code sent to you!
Set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) by following the app instructions.
3. Identity Verification
You'll be directed to a landing page displaying a banner prompting you to complete verification.
Tap the 'Verify Now' button to start the KYC process.
4-9.
Follow steps 4 through 9 from Scenario 1 to complete the KYC verification process.
10. Restore your Wallet
In order to restore and access your old wallet through your account, please reach out to support!
Keep your old wallet-address ready that you used before (it usually starts with bc1q...) so we can help you the most effective.
