Before you buy
An external wallet is a Bitcoin wallet that is not managed by Relai — you have full control over it (e.g. BitBox, Ledger, Trezor, Coldcard).
If you want to use a new external wallet, you will need access to a desktop computer to connect and verify it.
To buy Bitcoin with Relai to an external wallet, follow these steps:
1.Download the Relai app from the App Store or Google Play Store.
2.Click on ‘Buy’.
3.Enter the amount, frequency, and payment method.
4.On the order overview screen, tap ‘Add’ under External address.
5.Select an existing wallet or click ‘Add external wallet’.
To add a new external wallet:
1.Open the link wallet.relai.app on your desktop (you can share the link from the app to your computer).
2.Click on ‘Login’ — a QR code will be displayed.
3.Scan the QR code with your phone and confirm the login in the Relai app.
4.Once logged in, click ‘Add new wallet’.
5.Select your wallet type (BitBox, Ledger, Trezor, Coldcard, or manual).
6.Follow the instructions on screen depending on your wallet type choice
7.Confirm the address and approve the request on your hardware wallet.
Your wallet is now verified and saved.
Back in the Relai app:
1.Return to the app and tap ‘Add external wallet’ again.
2.Select your newly added wallet from the list.
3.Check your investment and confirm the purchase.
Switch to your banking app and complete the transfer using the provided details. Make sure to send the exact amount to avoid a refund.Once your order is confirmed, the Bitcoin is sent directly to your external wallet.
Good to know
You need a desktop computer only when adding a new wallet.
Once saved, you can reuse your wallet directly from the app.
You can have multiple external wallets and choose one for each purchase.
If you don’t approve the request on your hardware wallet, the wallet will not be added.
You can remove or deactivate wallets anytime via wallet.relai.app.
Selling Bitcoin from an external wallet is currently not supported.
