Do you want to import your Relai wallet into another wallet application that supports the BIP-39 standard? This guide explains step-by-step how to import your Relai wallet into another BIP-39-compatible wallet application.
What is BIP-39?
BIP-39 (Bitcoin Improvement Proposal 39) is a standard that allows the use of a 12- or 24-word recovery phrase in English to restore or import Bitcoin wallets. Since Relai is also BIP-39 compatible, you can easily import your wallet into other wallet apps like Electrum, Sparrow Wallet, or BlueWallet.
Steps to Import Your Relai Wallet into Another Wallet Application:
1. Retrieve the Recovery Phrase from the Relai App
Open the Relai App.
Go to ‘Profile’ -> ‘Your Recovery Phrase.’
Write down your 12-word recovery phrase securely offline on paper or metal. Make sure to write the words in the correct order.
2. Choose a BIP-39 Compatible Wallet
Select a wallet application that supports the BIP-39 standard, such as:
Electrum (Desktop application)
Sparrow Wallet (Desktop application)
BlueWallet (Mobile application)
3. Install the Wallet App
Download the selected wallet application from the official app store or website.
Install the app on your device.
4. Import the Recovery Phrase
Open the wallet app.
Select the option to ‘Restore Wallet’ or ‘Import Recovery Phrase.’
Enter the 12-word recovery phrase you wrote down from the Relai app.
5. Select the Correct Derivation Path
Relai uses the derivation path m/84’/0’/0’/0/0 of your HD wallet, which is for native SegWit (Bech32) addresses.
6. Verify the Wallet
Once the import is complete, your BTC balance should display correctly.
How to Restore Your Relai Wallet in Electrum:
Install Electrum: Download Electrum from the official website and install it on your computer.
Create a New Wallet: Open Electrum, enter a wallet name, select ‘Standard Wallet,’ and then ‘I already have a seed/Restore from seed phrase.’
Enter the Seed Phrase: Under Options, select ‘BIP-39 Seed,’ enter your 12-word recovery phrase from the Relai app, and click ‘Next.’
Set Address Format and Derivation Path:
On the next screen, select ‘native segwit (p2wpkh)’ as the address type.
Enter the derivation path m/84’/0’/0’/0/0.
Verify the Wallet: After setup, your addresses and balance should be visible. Compare them with your Relai wallet to ensure everything matches.
Important Notes:
Secure Your Recovery Phrase: Never share your 12 words with anyone and do not store them online.
No Recovery Possible: If you lose your 12-word recovery phrase, neither Relai nor anyone else can help you regain access to your wallet.
