Do you want to use all the features of the Relai App? Verification is an important step and only takes a few minutes. To ensure a smooth experience, make sure that your device’s precise location function is activated, NFC is turned on, and you have all the required documents ready. Just follow this guide!

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Preparation

Check your smartphone:

  • NFC capability: Ensure that your smartphone supports and has NFC (Near Field Communication) enabled. On iPhones, NFC is usually automatically activated. On Android devices, you may need to enable it in the settings.

  • Location function: Activate the location function on your device so that the app can access your precise location.

Have your identification document ready:

  • Required documents: You need a valid national passport or identity card from one of our supported countries.

  • Not accepted: Driver’s licenses and residence permits cannot currently be used.

  • Only IDs with a machine-readable zone (MRZ) are supported.

2. Open the Relai App

  • Open the Relai App on your smartphone.

  • Tap on the profile icon at the bottom right.

3. Start Verification

  • Select 'Identity Verification'.

4. Email Verification

  • You will be prompted to enter your email address. We will send you a code via email, which you need to enter in the app.

  • If you don’t see the email in your inbox, make sure to check your spam folder.

5. Provide Tax Residency Information

  • You will be asked to confirm your tax country.

6. Scan your ID document.

Make sure to scan the back of your ID first, and then the front, especially starting with the side that contains the MRZ (Machine Readable Zone).

Does your ID have this symbol? Then it’s NFC-enabled.

With NFC chip:

Hold your ID document against the back of your smartphone (usually near the top, close to the rear camera) to read the NFC chip.

Without NFC chip or with an outdated NFC chip:

  • If your ID does not have an NFC chip, a pop-up will appear, and you’ll need to click 'Skip'.

  • If you receive a message stating that the NFC chip in your ID is too old to be read by the Relai app, please click on 'Try Anyway'.

7. Perform the Selfie Check

Prepare yourself:

  • No hair or accessories should cover your face.

  • Good lighting: Find a well-lit place without direct sunlight or strong shadows.

  • If you wear glasses, make sure there are no reflections covering your eyes.

Take the selfie:

  • Keep your face within the displayed frame/oval.

  • No other persons should be visible in the background.

8. Provide Further Information

  • Answer a few short questions about yourself and the origin of your funds.

9. Confirm your phone number:

  • We will send you a code via SMS. Enter it in the app.

10. Confirm Your Address

  • Allow the Relai App to access your precise location to confirm your address.

11. Done!

  • You are now verified and can use all the features of the Relai App.

  • Note: In some cases, the verification may take up to 24 hours if a manual review is necessary.

Tips and Notes

  • Supported documents: Only national identity cards and passports with MRZ are accepted.

  • NFC tips: Problems scanning? Ensure that NFC is activated, and try again.

  • Clear images: Make sure the photos are sharp and well-lit to avoid delays.

  • Location function: Important for address confirmation: Your location services must be activated so we can confirm your address.
