What does “migration” mean?

Migration means that EU customers will now be served by Relai EU (France) instead of Relai AG (Switzerland). Relai EU is licensed under the new Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulation, which sets clear rules for crypto services in the EU.


Good to know: Relai is non-custodial. Your bitcoin always stays in your wallet. The only thing that changes is your service provider and data controller, your funds are not affected.

What do I need to do?

  1. Notification: You’ll receive an email and an in-app message about the migration.

  2. Review documents: Read the updated Terms & Conditions, Pricing Policy, and Privacy Policy.

  3. Accept: Confirm the new Terms & Conditions directly in the app.

Once you accept, your profile is migrated automatically.



What if I don’t accept the new Terms?

You won’t be able to buy or sell bitcoin via Relai anymore.
Your wallet remains fully yours, and you can always open it in another Bitcoin wallet application using your 12 word seed phrase.



Can I switch back?

After the migration, your account will be managed by Relai EU (France). Under French law (Code de la consommation, Art. L221-18), you have a 14-day withdrawal period if you wish to change your mind after accepting the new Terms.


How to use it:

Send an email to [email protected] with subject “Withdrawal from New Terms” and include:

  • Your full name and Relai account email

  • The sentence: “I exercise my right of withdrawal from the new Terms accepted on [date].”

  • Today’s date

If you withdraw, you won’t be able to buy or sell bitcoin with Relai anymore but your wallet always stays yours, and you can keep it or use it in another Bitcoin wallet application.

You also keep your GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability).

For data erasure (Article 17 GDPR), just email [email protected] with subject “Erasure request (Article 17 GDPR)” and include your account email.


Is my data safe?

Yes, your data is safe with Relai.

  • EU customers are protected by GDPR

  • Swiss customers are protected by FADP
